Fading Treasure of Peonies
by Bai Ju Yi

With long slow steps
In front of the sagging peonies
Sighing as evening comes
Only two branches left
So world worn they are

By first morning light
The rising wind no doubt
Will blow the remaining life entirely out
All the more reason tonight to treasure
The vivid red like fire light that I behold
